French Apple Pie

3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 pie crust
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Dash of salt
6 cups thinly sliced tart apples

Topping
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar.

Heat oven to 425. Prepare pastry crust.

Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Stir in apples. Pour into pastry lined pie plate. Mix topping ingredients until crumbly.  Spread over top of apple filling.

Bake 50 minutes. Cover with aluminum foil during last 10 minutes of baking.
